It’s time again for Bon Appétit to crown its top new restaurant picks of the year.

Bon Appétit deputy editor Andrew Knowlton and senior editor Julia Kramer culled more than 400 new eateries across the country down to 50 spots in preparation to reveal its top 10 picks for best new restaurant. Knowlton noted that list finalists “define the way we eat” today. They range from an onigiri-slinging food truck in Charleston, S.C., to a zero-frills taqueria in Dallas.

The magazine will reveal its top 10 picks, which it calls its “Hot 10” list in its September issue, which goes on sale on Aug. 16. Bon Appétit will celebrate the chosen few when it hosts a party on Sept. 8 at Spring Studios in TriBeCa.

Returning to the 50 finalists, Bon Appétit has added five New York-based eateries to the list: Mimi in SoHo; Superiority Burger in the East Village; Té Company in the West Village, and Bar Goto and Wildair, both in the Lower East Side.

Editor in chief Adam Rapoport said of the New York based restaurants: “I could live my dream day, just by visiting the New York City nominees for our Best New Restaurants: A calm, soothing afternoon tea at  Té Company, followed by a meticulously calibrated cocktail at the jewel box that is Bar Goto. Then, into appetizers and a one-of-a-kind bottle of natural wine at Wildair, followed by dinner at Mimi, the most seductive bistro in town. And, finally, because the best dessert is salty and crispy and gooey and not at all ‘healthy,’ a Superiority Burger from the genius that is chef Brooks Headley.”
